Review of the Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid-Touch Foundation

Oh my gosh, I can't believe I finally have this foundation! The first thing that intrigued me about this product was its packaging - it's beautiful! To learn more information about the product, I turned to YouTube -- as all makeup lovers do. I watched Michelle's video and desperately wanted the foundation. I went to go purchase it several weeks ago, but ended up putting it back down (I'm not sure why!) and I've been dreaming of it ever since. Ulta is currently having a BOGO 50% off Maybelline products sale. I also hunted down a $4 off Dream Wonder product. And I used Ulta's $3.50 off $10 coupons. I purchased this foundation along with the Fit Me concealer and paid $3.39 for the foundation. #boom

I'll be honest, I had very high expectations for this foundation. I had watched many YouTube videos and was very excited to finally have it.

This foundation is verrryyy liquidy. It is easiest the least viscous (that's a chemistry term) foundation I have ever owned. However, the consistency makes for a very soft and blendable application. The bottle instructs you to use your fingers, and that's exactly what I did. Because this is not a full coverage foundation, I made sure to cover my blemishes with a little bit of Colorstay before hand (just a thin layer with my RT complexion sponge). I paid extra attention as I buffed it in that I was not leaving any streaks. I was honestly surprised with how beautiful this foundation made my skin look. It also worked well with all of my powders/blushes/bronzers. This foundation also has SPF in it, which is a plus because I live in Arizona, but I hear that's not good for flash photography.

I'd say this foundation held up well through out the day. After 12 hours of wear (call me crazy!), it's still holding up relatively well. My t-zone and forehead are oily, but nothing crazy or unacceptable. I will say though, that this foundation is not for dry skin. NOT AT ALL. I was recently sick and spent like, 48 hours blowing my nose, so all around my nose and close to my top lip is just destroyed and it does not look good. Basically looks like my face is falling off.

I think my favorite thing about this foundation is that it looks like skin. It does a great job of evening out my skin tone, but because it is a light-medium foundation, my imperfections show through. Call me crazy, but I am loving that type of natural finish. My skin looks like skin -- not a mask.

All in all, I plan to repurchase this foundation.

Quick Overview
Pros: affordable, natural finish, SPF, buildable, easy and quick application.
Cons: not good for dry skin, 10mls less than usual

Favorite Fall Lippies

I think it's safe to say that my newest obsession is lip products. Like seriously, I feel like I'm making up for about 10 years of lost time. I just -- I want to purchase all of them and then wear them all simultaneously. I am very much so enjoying experimenting with different lippies and colors, and with fall right around the color I get to dabble in deeper, darker shades. I am loving these deeper shades and -- not gonna lie -- I'm gonna be upset when winter is over.

So far I have come across three amazing lippies that I'll be wearing all fall/winter long. I'm already experiencing so much turmoil over which one I'll wear each day. #firstworldproblems

My first go-to fall lippie is one that I've been raving about since I got it. Like seriously, it's an issue. I'm sure you guys are so tired of hearing me talk about Touch of Spice, but I just can't. You know in Mean Girls how Cady has the word vomit? Yeah, that's how I feel about this lipstick! I just can't help it! It's sOoOo beyond perfect for fall. It's a perfect mix of brown and red and it wears so beautifully.

My next favorite fall lippie is Copenhagen from the soft matte lip cream line by NYX. This is such a wonderful deep, purpley plum shade. It's nothing short of glorious. You all know I'm a lunatic about these SMLCs, so this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

In fact, my third and final fall lippie is the SMLC in Prague. This is a gorgeously deep pink. With a nice plummy, purpley eye look, this lipstick just pulls everything together. It makes my lips look so full and I love it.

**special note! I have every intention of purchasing Divine Wine from the Maybelline matte line this fall and also wearing the heck out of that.

September (2014) Favorites

Finally joining the Monthly Favorites Club! The products included in this post are the products that I found myself reaching for all September long. From eye shadows to concealers, these kept me looking fresh and beautiful all month long.

From realtechniques.com
First and foremost, my ultimate September favorite was my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge. There are no words to describe how much I love this little sponge (never thought I'd say those words!). One reason I really love it is because it is designed to be used wet, so I fill it with cool water and it just seems to completely refresh my face as I apply my foundation. I also love the point that this sponge comes to - great for under eye area and around my nose.

from us.rimmellondon.com
Though I don't see this Rimmel concealer covering up my horrendous dark circles very well, it blends out beautifully! Using my miracle complexion sponge (of course), it stipples the concealer out so gorgeously. It gives such a wonderful highlight. I also heard this was good for contouring, which I completely believe because of its blendability. I used this all month long!

from physiciansformula.com
This is my all time favorite brow bone highlight shade. I got this color from a Physicians Formula matte quad (Classic Nudes). It's a matte, off-white shade that really ties my entire look together. Sometimes I feel like my entire look is tanking, and then I add this highlight, blend it into my transition color, and it works magic. I love this eye shadow!

from makeupgeek.com
I recently ordered some Makeup Geek eye shadows and my favorite by a long shot is peach smoothie. This color is just so universal. I can leave it with a really light application or build up the pigmentation. Either way, it looks beautiful.

from maybelline.com
Even though I bought this lipstick two days before October, I'm still including it in my September favorites because I love it that much. That's right: Maybelline's creamy matte lipstick in touch of spice. Love at first sight! As soon as I applied this lipstick to my lips, I knew that I'll be wearing it all Fall long. It's going to live in my purse.

from beautyfyi.net

Again, I just discovered these a few days before the month ended, but they totally qualify because of how in love with them I am. These tiny NYX pearl pigments are to die for! They come in a wide range of colors and are breath-takingly beautiful with a wet application. The metallic sheen from these pigments rivals that of the L'Oreal Infallible eye shadows. And at $3 a piece, you can't go wrong.

First Impression of the Maybelline Creamy Matte lipstick in Touch of Spice

If you don't know about this lipstick, then you must be living under a rock! Seriously, this lipstick in this specific color has been flooding my feed on IG for a little less than 2 weeks now. And for very good reason! This Maybelline Creamy Matte lipstick collection was just barely released. Like, when I went to my Ulta, they had to bring the display out to me because they hadn't put it out yet. And it is selling like hot cakes! I've seen women on Insta travel to three or four stores to find this specific lipstick. There are other girls buy two or three of it for back ups. Seriously, that's how amazing this lipstick is!

Upon first opening the tube, I had a small heart attack. I found myself rather disappointed in the color. It was much browner than I was expecting. I swatched it on my hand, and all of my worries faded away. It looked beautiful! It only took me two or three swipes to build up the color completely, which is fantastic. I went into the bathroom to apply it to my lips and was pleasantly surprised by how creamy it was. I know it's in the name, but I was not expecting it to feel as creamy as it does. And the color? I loved it even more lovely on my lips than I did on the back of my hand. It was perfect for me. I was immediately excited to wear this product all Fall!

I've been wearing the lipstick for about 4 hours now, and I am so pleased that my lips do not feel nearly as dry as other matte lipsticks leave me. Now, let's be honest, you can't expect a hydrating and nourishing experience with a matte lipstick - you just can't. However, this lipstick is the most comfortable one that I own, hands down. While it does dry slightly, it still remains somewhat creamy so you are able to rub your lips together without causing enough friction to start a fire. It didn't seem to wear off in the slightest either, which I'm very impressed with because normally I'm left with a weird space on my inner lips. This lipstick does have the typical Maybelline lipstick smell, which everyone seems to hate and I like (call me crazy!). I also do not personally like this package, although that is simply because I prefer round packaging.

Overall, I am very pleased with this product and would repurchase. I also plan on purchasing Lust for Blush from this line once Ulta has a sale or I find a coupon.
