Behind Kalyn's Cosmetics is...well...me! 

 My name is Kalyn (pronounced like Kay-lyn). 

How we got here!

 About 6 months ago I arrived at the decision that I wanted to enroll in beauty school. BUUUTTT I'm currently 15 courses away from getting my bachelors, and have decided it would be best to finish that endeavor before beginning this one. In the mean time, however, I have begun exploring all those things that beauty gurus do, such as having an Instagram account (@kalynscosmetics) and starting a blog. Now, I am a beginner at this, so bear with me as I muddle through the first few weeks or so. 

Currently, my focus is on growing my personal make up collection and consuming as much knowledge as I can. I spend a great deal of my time on YouTube, absorbing whatever those beauty goddesses bring to me! Specifically I'm spending a lot of time watching videos on color theory, just becoming more familiar with warm tones and cool tones and all that jazz. The majority of my make up is drugstore. In fact, the only high end make up I do own was given to me by one of my friends who works at Sephora. 

What to expect!

On this blog you can expect to see a plethora (pretty sure I used that word correctly!) of posts, from hauls, to reviews, to pictorials, basically anything that relates to cosmetics can be seen here. I'm also hoping to have more technical posts, such as make up theory and undertones. In the beginning, this blog will be updated at least once a week, if not three or so. I currently do  not own any sort of camera, other than the one on my Galaxy S3. All pictures on this blog will have been taken/edited by me, unless otherwise noted. Not that my pictures are sOoOo good that someone will want to steal them, but sometimes I get lucky with good lighting and a cool effect (like above).

About me!

Anyways, the point of this page is to introduce myself, so I'll get right into that. I live in the greater Phoenix area, and have for my entire life. My husband's name is Derek, and we have been married for a little over a year. We regularly attend Grace Bible Church of Phoenix and are both students at Grand Canyon University. He is studying education and is set to begin student teaching in August of 2014. My major is biblical studies with an emphasis in youth ministry. In my free time I enjoy perusing any mediums of beauty, including IG accounts, YouTube channels, and blog posts. My favorite YouTubers are Jaclyn Hill (umm, can anyone say #wcw?!), shaaanxo, KathleenLights, LustreLux, and Nicole Guerriero. My husband and I also like to cook together, watch shows on Netflix, and attend concerts. My best friend's name is Ariel, and she definitely fuels my addiction to make up. She used to work at Ulta and enjoys make up in the same ways that I do, so we can spend hours watching all kinds of tutorials and videos (while we eat pizza, of course!). Both mine and Derek's family live in the same area as we do, so we see them quite often. We like to alternate between in-laws for Sunday night dinners.
